We are a grassroots organization fighting for cleaner air for all New Yorkers in our community where marijuana is now legal. We are seeking stronger rights and protections for non-smokers to live and work in clean air spaces. While respecting the legalization of marijuana in New York, we seek common sense and creative measures that need to be taken for everyone's quality of life.
Well, if you live in one of our cities, especially in New York City, you can't really go anywhere without being hit with the smell or smoke of someone smoking marijuana. It's a nuisance and there isn't any regard taken to respect those who do not smoke. Take a NYC subway, walk in Central Park, or just try to get some fresh air outside and you will smell that distinctive, unpleasant smell of marijuana.
It is the Wild West in NYC at the moment. In a city that passed some of the strongest laws in the early 2000s to protect clean air for all, it seems they either do not apply to marijuana smoking or that they have gone by the wayside. We respect legalization, but we ask that our leaders and fellow citizens respect our choose to not smoke. Additionally, as marijuana use in public spaces has increased, it seems cigarette smoking in places that is illegal is now ignored.
We also care about those who may be most impacted by marijuana exposure, such as the elderly, children, and those with asthma or other respiratory ailments. All New Yorkers should be free to enjoy our towns and cities free from smoke of all kinds!
You may have noticed our logo is half a flower and half a marijuana plant leaf. This is to represent that our organization seeks to both represent the rights of non-smokers, while respecting the legalization of marijuana in New York State.
